At ROLLiN’, we’re always looking to do things differently. As a digital brand, we’ve worked hard to keep insurance affordable and convenient.

It’s why over the years we’ve bagged a bunch of awards, including a Highly Commended award at this year’s 2024 Finder Car Insurance Awards. The awards are held every year and aim to recognise Australia's best brands, products, and innovations, ranging from banking and insurance to mobile phone providers.

Here, Finder’s Gary Ross Hunter, Editor, Insurance & Innovations, explains how ROLLiN’ sets itself apart among Australia’s car insurance brands.

Why ROLLiN’ is an award winner

“ROLLiN’ stood out because it was one of the cheapest comprehensive car insurers available in our research of over 35 policies. How’d we know this? Well, in short, we did a lot of research,” explains Gary Ross Hunter.

“Our team spent around 250 hours gathering over 1,800 comprehensive car insurance quotes from 37 different providers. For some context, this represents the majority of the most popular car insurers in Australia.

“You probably already know that car insurance prices differ a lot depending on your age, gender, where you live and the car you drive. To get a fair average, we got quotes for a bunch of ages: 20-, 30-, 40-, 50- and 60-year-olds. We also looked at multiple locations across NSW, QLD, VIC, SA, TAS and WA. The car used in each quote was a 2019 Toyota Corolla Ascent 4 Door Sedan. For every insurer, we selected an excess between $700 and $900.

“For the Low Cost Award, we didn’t analyse any features. The final scores were based solely on price.”

What makes ROLLiN’ different

“Aside from its comparatively low cost, ROLLiN’ has a few things that differentiate it from the pack. Firstly, unlike the majority of insurers, it doesn’t charge extra excesses if you’re under 25. Instead, on a personal use policy there’s an $800 excess for listed drivers and a $3,000 excess for unlisted drivers, regardless of your age,” Gary says.

“Another really unique benefit is its excess-free windscreen, sunroof and window glass damage, which is included as standard. This is an optional extra with most other comprehensive car insurance policies. Considering that windscreen damage is one of the most commonly claimed events, it’s good to see this included with ROLLiN’s comprehensive car insurance policy.

“Plus, you can leave whenever you like. There’s no lock-in-contract. It won’t charge you a fee if you need to leave. If convenience and cost is important to you, ROLLiN’ could be a great option. In a cost-of-living crisis, it’s focusing on the right things, doing its best to keep prices low while delivering simple and straightforward cover.”
