CAR INSURANCE FOR YOUNG DRIVERS (AND OLD DRIVERS TOO...)
If you’re weighing up car insurance, you have options available – one of them being comprehensive insurance – which, btw, is the one thing we do.
Quick heads up before we get into more detail. Some insurers can charge young drivers (under the age of 25) an additional excess because of their age. We don’t. It’s one of the many ways we try to do things a little differently.
Let us share a few more with you, as well as a touch of car insurance 101 too.
TL;DR BENEFITS FOR YOUNGER DRIVERS
We dance a little differently from other insurers. We literally do one thing – a comprehensive car insurance policy - with all our favourite bits included (but more on this later). We’ll even cover people with a learner or provisional driver licence in the same way as any other driver. Sweet.
What's your age again?
Some other insurers can charge up to an additional $800 extra excess just because you’re a young driver.* We don’t. Don’t get stung just for being young. (PS: “young” to us means anyone under 25, so if you remember dial up internet, you should be good.)

Monthly policies
We weren’t keen on one looming annual payment for car insurance, so we switched things up and went with monthly policies instead. And because we know life’s full of unmissable opportunities, we love the taste of freedom that comes with a monthly policy. Thinking of hiking the Himalayas or hitting the Hawaiian surf? Go for it. There are zero exit fees if you want to bounce.
Keepin' it simple
Sticking with our keep-it-simple approach, we have a hard rule for excess on personal use policies – $800 for drivers listed on the policy and $3000 for drivers who aren’t – and you’ll only be charged once per claim. Using your car for business? Check how your excess works here.
BYO mates
This may shock you but there’s no additional fees on top of your premium for adding additional drivers on your policy*. Have as many as 10 drivers listed on your policy, as long as they fit our underwriting criteria. So, if your besties coming in from out of town and is super keen on using your car, don’t sweat it. Just add them to your policy.
*Altering your policy may result in a change in premium.

Some of our other fave inclusions are replacement transport up to $80 per day for up to 21 days if your car is in the shop getting repaired for a covered incident, emergency travel and accommodation up to $500 if you're 200km or more from home, and no excess on your first covered windscreen repair once per insurance period.
